  • The system will lose pressure

  • Coolant may leak into the expansion tank and/or onto the ground

A weak or faulty cap is inexpensive to replace but can cause major issues if ignored. Hoses: Small Parts, Big Problems

There are typically two main hoses: the upper radiator hose and the lower radiator hose. These hoses carry coolant between the engine and radiator. Over time, heat and pressure cause hoses to crack, soften, swell, leak or collapse internally.

Houston’s hot climate accelerates hose wear. A sudden hose failure can dump coolant quickly and cause immediate overheating.

During proper radiator maintenance, hoses are inspected for softness, brittleness, bulging, and leaks. Replacing aging hoses proactively is far less expensive than dealing with an overheated engine and a tow bill.

  • Engine temperature gauge running hotter than normal
  • Frequent need to add coolant
